Honeywell’s Profit® Movement Management – Movement Control enables operations personnel to safely and efficiently execute material movements within oil refineries, tank farms and terminals. It enables safe and effective movement execution by accounting for material compatibility, equipment availability and thermal relief requirements. ​​​​​​​

Material Movement Automation Control for Oil Refineries, Tank Farms & Terminals

Movement Control is part of Honeywell’s Profit Movement Suite and is built on the Profit Inventory Monitor and Movement Monitor applications. It provides the following key capabilities:
  • Path Selection and Isolation to ensure movement safety using the most optimal path possible.
  • Sequence Generation that ensures the equipment involved in a movement is executed in the proper order.
  • Path Approval and Sequence Actions Review to allow the operator to make the final decision for accepting a path and associated actions.
  • Movement Execution which automatically executes the line-up and controls the material flow.
  • Tank Quality Integration that tracks product property changes as a result of movement operations.
  • Honeywell Field Advisor Integration for effective execution of manual actions.
Movement Control uses a model of the plant to define all related components of off-site facilities, including pumps, pipes, valves, tanks, and shipping and receiving points. Using this model, it can safely and effectively line up and control material movements. In addition, Movement Control uses an industry-leading path selection algorithm with flexible line-up options (i.e., preferred path, dynamic, templates) that accounts for material compatibility, equipment availability and optimal isolation for safer and more efficient material movements.

Based on Honeywell’s Experion® platform, Movement Control is built on Microsoft Windows technology and communicates to other applications via XML to any OPC-compliant distributed control system.
 With Movement Control, users can:

  • Reduce losses from tank farm incidents by automatically checking for material and equipment compatibility.

  • Achieve fewer material downgrades and shipping errors by tracking line content.

  • Increase operator effectiveness through optimized movement set up and execution.

  • Improve safety and reliability of manual actions through integration with Honeywell’s Field Advisor.
