​Honeywell’s UniSim® Engineering Studies are carried out during the design stage to help process engineers optimize equipment design before users make large capital investments and start operations. This enables users to identify potential design issues to improve process design and plant operations.

UniSim Engineering Studies include:

  • Steady state and dynamic modeling

  • Process design modeling and parameter estimation

  • Emergency de-pressuring and flare relief studies

  • Compressor and surge control studies

  • High Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS) studies

  • Integrated pipeline and production platform studies

  • Process design and controllability studies.

In addition to confirming the operational readiness of plant assets, these studies take reliability and safety into account. Combined with an Operator Training System project, they can also help identify shortcomings in the distributed control system (DCS) graphics, controls, alarms and safety system configuration.

Honeywell process engineers work closely with users’ engineering teams to understand business requirements and identify possible design issues and process improvements while the design is still on the drawing board.

By studying dynamic process behavior during the early project phases, Honeywell can help users identify problems before large capital expenditures are incurred. With UniSim Engineering Studies, special control algorithms and advanced process design control strategies can be prepared for the initial startup.

With Honeywell’s UniSim Engineering Studies, plant managers can achieve the following benefits:
