Honeywell’s Enhanced High Performance Process Manager (EHPM) is a process-connected device on the Enhanced Universal Control Network (EUCN) that provides regulatory control and sequence operations. It enables unification of control functions and data exchange between devices on the Fault Tolerant Ethernet (FTE)-based EUCN to help users improve operations and control performance.

Modernization of Process Manager Controllers

EHPM is part of Honeywell’s long-term, multi-phase vision to integrate the control environment of its TPS/TDC and Experion PKS systems. The new EHPM controller is the result of ongoing modernization of the most mature and field tested controller available today, Honeywell’s High Performance Process Manager (HPM).

Ideal for implementation across all industries, EHPM retains the functions of the HPM controller, while also bringing in the capability of integrating in a unified control environment with other Experion PKS controllers. With EHPM, users can extend the life of their automation assets and improve their plant efficiency through incremental modernization and upgrades while making minimal investments.

EHPM is the first process-connected device to be introduced on the Enhanced Universal Control Network (EUCN), the new FTE-based universal control network that makes use of the Enhanced Network Interface Module (ENIM) to connect to the Local Control Network (LCN). The modernized EHPM controller supports all classical process control functions for continuous, discrete and batch operations, Process Manager I/O hardware and field protocols provided by the HPM controller.

EHPM executes direct peer-to-peer communication across FTE with other EHPMs and future devices to be connected to the EUCN. In addition, it provides an opportunity for other devices on the FTE network to access data from EHPM for control and signal monitoring purposes.

With EHPM, users can

• Effectively expand their TPN/TPS system while re-applying the available intellectual property in the HPM controllers

• Modernize their mature controllers and expand the remaining life of their automation assets by 30-50%

• Improve efficiency of control functions in the EHPM without any change in I/O hardware and processing with Experion PKS controllers.
