Automation and Safety Infrastructure for Offshore Production

Offshore production requires an automation and safety system which has evolved to handle the topsides and sub-sea processes. Also, ancillary marine systems must be integrated, as well as the various protection systems to mitigate risk.

This automation evolution provides operations with centralized control to handle sub-sea production operations, topside process handling of oil and gas, off loading operations as well as safety system security of people, equipment and the environment. This security extends to zone protection around the outer areas of the marine based production operation.

Honeywell’s Experion® Process Knowledge System (PKS) is a next generation control system that drives critical information to the production operations management team.

Honeywell’s core offering is Experion® PKS integrated with Safety Manager. Built on proven Quadruple Modular Redundancy (QMR) ®, Safety Manager tightly integrates with Experion’s alarm and events capabilities in addition to the Fire & Gas, Emergency Shutdown and Burner Management Systems. While maintaining functional safety separation, it is able to provide single view access to the production manager for easy analysis on an Experion station.

Honeywell also offers a comprehensive physical and cyber security product portfolio that covers the protection of key assets including property, people and the environment, as well as preserving and maintaining confidentiality of information, integrity of data and availability of systems.

    • Experion PKS -- Experion PKS Orion, the latest release of Experion PKS, goes beyond traditional distributed control systems (DCS) by introducing the latest in Universal Channel Technology and comprehensive turnkey Experion virtualization solutions.

Honeywell is the leader in sub-sea integration, widely used in the deepest parts of the Gulf of Mexico. These installations are supported by a staff of Honeywell personnel on and offshore to increase solutions that maximize efficiency while mitigating risk. Honeywell is the only automation service provider that continues to support products developed and installed as many as 30 years ago.

Honeywell offers a range of engineering services to bring all needed intelligence together into a real-time system. This helps manage the complete operations while maximizing return on investment with continuous lifecycle support. The services range from project engineering  to handle migrations or expansions, acting as the main automation contractor for greenfield sites, managing the security of process control networks  or maintaining  field instrumentation, control systems  and advanced  oil and gas applications to maximizing availability and customers’ business potential.

Honeywell can also incorporate the design and operating expertise of UOP, a Honeywell Company, in the design and layout of the graphics, regulatory control strategies, and safety manager for UOP licensed processes for oil and gas.
