Connect with today’s leading employers in the process industries through Honeywell’s UniSim® Design Challenge 2017

Global winners will receive an all expenses-paid trip to network and present their winning entry to users of Honeywell industrial automation technology, including companies such as Suncor Energy, Petronas, ExxonMobil, PetroChina, TOTAL, Sinopec, Shell, Woodside, S-Oil, Arrow Energy, Phillips 66, Saudi Aramco, Rio Tinto, Petrobras, BHP Billiton, Qatar Gas, LyondellBasell, Reliance Energy, DuPont, Chevron, and more. 

UniSim Design Suite helps process industries improve productivity and profitability throughout the plant lifecycle.

 

The powerful simulation and analysis tools, real-time applications and the integrated approach to engineering solutions provided by UniSim Design Suite enable companies to improve designs, optimize production and enhance decision-making.

 

These simulation models can be leveraged into advanced training and optimization solutions provided by the UniSim Operations and UniSim Optimization suites.

What is the UniSim Design Challenge?

Use Honeywell’s UniSim Design software to simulate a new process design or solve an operational issue for an existing plant. Submit your design in a 300-word summary/abstract and then submit the fully detailed project and UniSim Design case in Microsoft PowerPoint format.


Who can enter?

The competition is open to all full and part-time students studying an engineering, science, technology or math-related subject during the academic year 2016 at the undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate level in a recognized educational university/college. 


Why should I enter?

  • The winner(s) will have a unique opportunity to network with industry experts from leading process companies.

  • Previous winners now work at Honeywell, ZADCO and Virthualis, among others. 


What do I win?

  • All expenses-paid trip for up to 2 students to the Honeywell Users Group Americas conference.

  • In addition, the supervisor of the winning student(s) will be offered paid attendance to the Honeywell Users Group Americas conference.

What is UniSim Design?

UniSim Design Suite provides an intuitive and interactive process modeling solution that enables engineers to create steady-state and dynamic models for plant and control design, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, operational improvement, business planning and asset management.

 

What should my submission look like?

Your final submission should include a PowerPoint presentation (.PPT template will be provided by Honeywell) and the UniSim Design simulation file(s) related to your project. Here is an example of a final presentation from a past student winner.

 

What are the deadlines?

For all regions:

  • Sign-up for the UniSim Design Challenge between February 2nd and March 17th, 2017 
  • Submit your 300-word abstract by March 17th, 2017
  • Submit your detailed PowerPoint presentation and UniSim Design Case(s) to complete your submission by May 1. 

How do I enter?

Enter the Honeywell UniSim Design Challenge in just 3 simple steps:

Sign up (see Sign Up for UniSim Design Challenge 2017 ) and discuss the competition with your tutor/professor, agreeing on a project to simulate. Ensure your tutor/professor has a FREE copy of UniSim Design software from Honeywell (see Apply for UniSim Design Software) and develop your entry. Submit your abstract (see Submit Abstract) and your final submission presentation and UniSim Design cases by the deadlines.
